Get the Most of Your Swim Dollars

Is your kiddo enrolled in swimming lessons? Here are some great tips for how to get the most out of them:

  1. Consistent Attendance. Regular attendance is the foundation of progress is consistency. When your kiddo attends his scheduled class constantly, both the coach and your swimmer are more in tune with the learning, and it shows in results!
  2. Quiz Your Swimmers. Help ingrain the safety skills your kiddos learn in swim lessons by presenting them with scenarios they have to think their way through. Mental rehearsal is a proven method for accelerating mastery. Think of all kinds of ways to ask your kiddos what they should do if they fall or jump into any body of water. (Answer: Rise to the surface of the water, float on your back, and yell for help!)
  3. Dress for Success. Proper swimming attire (snug-fitting swimsuits) makes it easier to feel and move through the water by eliminating the drag created by too much material. Good, quality goggles are also a great tool to expedite learning. Get rid of the rash guards (swim shirts) – those are designed to protect surfers from the sun. They are bulky and unnecessary when learning to swim; especially in an indoor pool.

These are just a few of the ways you can help your kiddo succeed in swim lessons – I’ll provide more tips regularly! Do you have any tips that you use with your family? I’d love to hear about them!
